CIAT will invite a number of distinguished traditional architectural practices, from a spread of countries, to become Founding Members.

 

Initially a minimum of five such practices will be sought. These five or more will pledge on joining to pay to CIAT the first one off subscription of £1000. This will become due when five founding members have been agreed.

 

At that moment all the five or more will have the opportunity to approve all further founding member practices that they are to join with in CIAT. Each further founding member practice shall them pay the one off £1000 subscription.

 

These initial subscriptions will form the seed corn for launching CIAT. Following these initial subscriptions of £1000 Founding Members shall pay the same annual subscription as Practice Members.

 

Founding Members shall be: Architectural Practices or Architectural Companies and will also automatically be also Practice Members.

 

Founding Members shall enjoy permanent and irrevocable status as such. Their number shall be limited by Board decision and the Board shall decide a cutoff point when no further Founding Members shall be created.

 

Founding Members by their nature perform a founding role in CIAT and so once the founding is achieved none further will be required


As a Founding Member the Practice shall be permanently displayed on the website, unless they prefer otherwise. Names shall be displayed in order of becoming Founding Members.


Founding Members must be respectable bone fide architectural Practices working predominantly in traditional architecture.


Every Founding Member shall have the automatic right appoint a member of their practice to serve on the Board for its first two terms without being elected.


Founding Members shall benefit from special publicity and prominence for their architectural work at Congresses and in the Magazine and lobbying of precurors.

A main activity of CIAT is to hold congresses which
will be annual.

The purposes of the congresses are to -

  • Create publicity in the world at large for CIAT, its principles and new traditional architecture being built now and having been built over the last 10 or 20 years
  • Publicise the work of CIAT professional Members to the world at large. ... read more

 

As well as the holding of Congresses the second principle activity shall be the production of a magazine on traditional architecture featuring work of its professional Members.

As well as the congresses and the magazine these shall be promoted on the website with each Member having a listing with links to their website plus information and illustrations on the CIAT website.

Practice Members will.
1. benefit from CIAT lobbying of procurors to employ traditional architectural CIAT Practice Members

2. enjoy the benefits of publicity for their practices in the CIAT Magazine, on the website and at Congresses

It shall be recognised that not only complete buildings but individual elements of buildings should be recognised provided that the building to which they belong is traditional and of some merit. CIAT has already a prominent presense on Facebook, as a ready made resource. This is its page curently entitled Traditional Architecture World

It is administered by CIAT Founder, Peter Kellow who edits all the content. Traditional Architecture World has over 5000 subscribers from all over the world which increase by about 40 every week.

When the CIAT site goes public the Facebook page will change its name to Traditional Architecture International Congress and so give CIAT a ready made Facebook presense with a large following. ... read more
